In 2009, atheist Penn Jillette said this about Christians; “If you believe there is a heaven and hell, and you think it’s not worth telling someone about it, how much do you have to hate him to not share your beliefs? To believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell people?”
Penn Jillette argues that if a person truly believes that a fellow human is at risk of going to hell or missing out on eternal life, they should urgently share that message out of care and compassion. To illustrate the urgency, he compares it to seeing a truck barreling down on someone who doesn’t see it; a bystander wouldn’t let social awkwardness stop them from tackling that person to safety.
I think this quote just about sums up one of the major problems a lot of christians have today.
We let shyness or a longing to fit in or something else stop us from sharing the the amazing news that Jesus is alive and if you believe in him your going to heaven.
If we really truly believe this, like Penn said, why are we quiet about it?
We tell people we are a Christian; sometimes we even skip that part. Maybe we tell them that Jesus is OUR Savior, but don’t tell them that He can be THEIR Savior too!
And I’m pretty bad at this too. I introduce myself with my name, maybe some other pleasantries. I get to know a person, but don’t tell them anything about the actual reason for life!!!
We should be excited to share the gospel!! Not afraid of being laughed at. Because yes, it is a fact of life. We will be laughed at and scorned and even worse. It says it in the Bible. And I get that feeling of just wanting to fit in, to not be the weirdo. And if your the weirdo how are you going to share the news? No one will listen to you!
But sharing the gospel does not mean lugging a bible around, or shouting at everyone going past that their going to hell.
It can be being a good example for those around, shining your light. It is making it clear that Jesus saved your life and your Christian, but that your not going to yell at others that their going to hell. Its being a kind, open person, so that if someone asks you, you have an answer. Its checking in with people, “Have you heard about Jesus?”. And there’s so many other ways. If you want to know some more, ask a more experienced Christian or a more experienced Christian blogger.

Now, I for one am done of being afraid to speak the Name of Jesus, the one who saved me. I’m not going to be ashamed to openly talk about Him with others.
As the song goes, make Heaven crowded (Josiah Queen)!!!
And remember what it says in Matthew; “When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” – Matthew 10:19-20
Pray and read your Bible. Ask God to guide you when you witness.
Have a great week 😊
