Take A Minute (Good Friday)

Today is Good Friday. For some, it’s just a holiday—the start of a long weekend. But it is so much more.

Good Friday commemorates the day Jesus was beaten, mocked, and crucified. It was a day of terrible suffering and a loss of hope for so many people.

The Temple leaders thought they had won.

Rome thought they had just executed another rebel.

But they were wrong.

Jesus was no ordinary man; He was the Son of God. He is a friend who loves you so deeply that He chose to die for you. For YOU.

Jesus knew the misery that awaited Him. He could have stopped it with a word, but He didn’t run. He was torn up about it but He didn’t stop it happening.

Why? Because of His love for us. He is the greatest friend one could ever have. So great He died for you.

He took on our sin so we wouldn’t have to.

While we look forward to the empty grave three days later, today we pause at the cross.

So I want you to just take a minute today. Just 1 minute to think about the pain, the suffering Jesus went through. Think about the sacrifice He made for you, for me, for everyone. And give Him a huge thank you, for dying for you. He did it because He loved you.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
